The Ten Step Plan
1. Look at VLH floor plans and decide what you like or what is close.
2. Measure rooms in your home to get an idea of how
they are if you you are planning from scratch.
3. Draw all the rooms you would like to their approx. size 1/4"= 1', cut them out,
and arrange them according to what you think would facilitate the best high
traffic areas. Try to save time & steps. Keep traffic along walls & try
to not to move traffic diagonally across rooms.
4. Measure furniture and then plan them into rooms.
Make sure you have plenty of room left over for traffic.
5. Plan the windows with the approx. size keep in mind that windows are escape
routes, they have uniform size on each side of the home, that they are
evenly spaced, and that they provide maximum air circulation.
6. Plan your heating system.
7. Go through plan & fine tune it.
8. Mentally walk through the house imagining each room, where furniture and
appliances will go. Make sure it feels right or keep fine tuning.
9. Draw floor plan on grid paper, label approximate rooms + door & window
sizes, how they open. Make other notes on the side. If you are

; modifying an existing plan, note any changes on it.
10. Call VLH We will then help you take the final steps to turn your rough
into a professional blueprint. After it is approved we will
begin to build the home of your dreams!
